Allergies are common in children who were born premature, were not breastfed, have poor diet, or family history of respiratory and digestive disorders. Acupuncture effectively treats this condition. A proper diet, based on your child’s consitution, should also be designed to prevent the allergies from coming back. Children respond exceptionally well to acupuncture. Their bodies are young and the patterns of disharmony are not as deeply ingrained as they are in adults. In the past years we’ve treated a number of children for allergies, asthma, and chronic colds and they all reported good results. Often, after a series of treatments, they begin to eat the foods which in the past would give them trouble.

Nausea is common in the first trimester of pregnancy, in some cases it persists past the first three months. The World Health Organization  (WHO) lists nausea as a condition that can be effectively treated by acupuncture and Chinese Medicine. If you are pregnant, you can also use acupuncture for other pregnancy-related complaints: lower back pain or sciatica (which can happen in the third trimester), swelling of the legs and feet, to promote labor, or for threatened miscarriage. One added benefit of regular acupuncture treatments during pregnancy is that it helps infants as well.
