  1. Aloha Nicole – this is Nancy Findeisen. I have a program coming up on November 19, 2016 for high students and their parent or adult guardian. It is a funded research program for families to communicate together about some of the more sensitive issues, like healthy relationships and sexual health. I am included a write up I just submitted to Maui News. Is there a chance, I might be able to submit a small article (or the same as below) in your next edition?

Linking Families and Teens – LiFT – an OPPORTUNITY on MAUI
LiFT is a 5-hour program that brings high school students (9-12th grade) and an adult (parent, grandparent, family friend, neighbor, aunt, etc.) together to share family values, strengthen family bonds, and talk about the tough stuff – healthy relationships and sexual health. Research shows that teens want to learn sensitive information from their parents, and teens that are able to communicate with a trusted adult in their life are less likely to engage in risky behaviors and make better decisions. The program is free for all participants.

As part of a Federal Grant program, all participants will take a confidential survey before starting the program. Participants will then be randomly divided into one of two groups, a survey-only group, or the LiFT group. Both groups will receive food, cash, and prizes for participation, and be provided with opportunities to bond with family.

In interested, please call or text Nancy Findeisen, Community Outreach Educator, 808.868.9177. You can also email her at nancy.findeisen@ppgnhi.org. LiFT will take place Saturday, November 19, 2016 at Maui Youth & Family Service, Makawao. Sign-up ends November 1, 2016.

  2. Hi. I’m trying to look for an activity program for (boy) kids on the age of 3-4 in Lahaina. Can someone please tell me what kind of activities you guys offer please!!!

  3. Aloha Tony,
Hope you are doing great and all the horses are safe after these storms we have had. I have spoken with you several times about volunteering. We left it that Tara would contact me and let me know when it is good to come and visit and get oriented so my husband and I can help out.
Please let me know if you would like us to come volunteer. We would love to.
    All the best,
    Monika and Malik Slosberg

  4. Hello!
I am located in Seattle, WA and my YMCA Director recently told me that there was a YMCA located on Maui. I wanted to reach out to see if you guys were hiring for Summer camp counselors, and if so- do you accept out of state residents, and do you happen to have any overnight camps.

Overall I think it would be an amazing opportunity to expand my horizons and get a feel for Maui since I’ve been considering moving there.
