Many have contributed to the flourishing of Japanese culture on Maui, and at this year’s 19th Annual Maui Matsuri festival, we recognize the fruit of their labor through the choice of our kanji-based theme: Saku, which translates from Japanese as “to bloom” or “to blossom.”

Join us as we revel in a wide range of entertainment and activities featuring live Japanese dance and music as well as an extensive variety of Japanese cultural exhibits, crafts, and food offerings! Watch the entertainment on stage, join us with your children at our keiki craft tent, or even participate in our art, cosplay, or food eating contests!

The three-day event includes the Maui Matsuri Kick-off at Queen Kaahumanu Center (Friday, May 17, 6:30pm-9:00pm), the International Culture Night at UHMC’s Pilina Building (Friday, May 24, 6pm-9pm), and of course, the Maui Matsuri Festival on Saturday, May 25 on UHMC’s Great Lawn (2:00pm-9:00pm).
