The Monkeypod Art Studio…for kids was created to provide a space for families on Maui to be artistic, creative, have fun, and strengthen the bonds between caregivers/parents and their children.Art and play are the work of children. According to the Child Development Institute, “The activities engaged in by children both stimulate and influence the pattern of the connections made between the nerve cells. This process influences the development of fine and gross motor skills, language, socialization, personal awareness, emotional wellbeing, creativity, problem solving and learning ability.”The studio houses an open arts and crafts exploration area, where children can paint, draw, and create inspired works of art with different materials. The space also lends itself to fun roleplay activities with areas set up as a house, store, and a pirate ship! There is even a softplay “toddler zone.”
Included in the daily admission are a variety of activities such as keiki yoga, singalongs, storytime, and art projects led by Monkeypod Art Studio staff. We encourage parents/caregivers to participate in all activities.
A minicamp for toddlers 3 to 4 years old is in the works. This camp will be offered 3 days a week for 3 hours each day. The goal is to encourage socialization amongst toddlers, while providing creative and imaginative play opportunities. Parents may choose to dropoff their toddler, or remain with them at the studio.
