Megan’s Meal of the Month:

Da Kitchen

Do you like food that is delivered super fast and hot to your table? Well, if you do then come by Da Kitchen and get some ono kau kau.  This place is sooooo kid-friendly.  You have a choice of where you want to sit, either booths or tables.  I like the booths better because you get to check out the Razorback shirts hanging on the walls.  The waitresses are extremely helpful and friendly.

The food is delicious!  The kid’s menu consists of teriyaki chicken or beef, chicken katsu, Kalua pork, saimin, and Mac & Cheese Nibblers.  Kids’ meals are all only $5.  It costs $1.25 for a small soda or juice, and $2 for milk.

I had my favorite: Da ‘Lau Lau’ Plate.  You can choose either mac or green salad.  The plate consists of two scoops of rice, lomi salmon and spinach.  You also get an extra plate for the leaves. My mom had the bacon cheeseburger shooters.  Inside the sweetbread bun are bacon, hamburger, cheese, and a cheddar-bacon spread.  Interesting, right? And very good, too!  The shooters are served with fries.  We also had poi. I love that purple paste stuff!  But I always add some sugar to give it a hint of sweetness.

You might be wondering about their location, prices, telephone number, and if they do catering.  I will give you those answers.  They are located at Triangle Square, 425 Koloa St., #104, Kahului.  The prices range from $2.99 to $6.99 for pupus, and from $8.25 to $15.25 for the main meal.  Their number is 871-7782, and their website is http://dakitchen.com/.  They are open daily for lunch and dinner, either eating in or takeout, from 11a.m. to 8:30p.m., and Saturdays from 11 til 4pm.

They also offer a catering menu.  You just need to give them advanced notice.  Prices for catered appetizers range from $8 to $20.  The main dishes range from $19 to $119.  There are two different pan sizes: half pan (20 servings) and full pan (40 servings).

Enjoy!
