Mother’s Day should really be all year round, right? But how amazing is it that one day a year, everyone (and their mama!) salutes moms who put their kiddos first, who sacrifice a warm cup of coffee day after day to take care of their ohana, and who love every minute of it.

Need some ideas on how to celebrate the mom in your life? Choose one, or all, of these ideas below and the mom in your life is sure to feel loved and extra appreciated this Mother’s Day.

Get salty

Here on beautiful Maui, the beach is always a great bet for Mother’s Day. Make it extra special by bringing a picnic for the whole family along with a flower lei or lei po’o for mom.

Create your own little cabana and have cold drinks, yummy eats and music. Maybe get mom a new swimsuit or cool round towel for a present.

While at the beach, take photos, collect driftwood, shells and seaglass, and then pop the picture and goodies into a shadow box frame to remember the day.

Relaxation time

Send mom to the spa for a facial or massage. Most spas on island offer all-day use of their facilities when you pay for a service.

A manicure and pedicure are equally relaxing if mom can’t get away all day. Top it off with a nice family lunch or early dinner.

Give the gift of photos

Let’s face it; most of the time it’s mom who’s taking the picture, which means she isn’t in many of them. Flip the camera and take some family pictures, either by a professional photographer or friend, or on your own using a timer.

Then make sure you print them out and get some framed. So many times photos get stuck online or in our phones. Photos mom can hang on her wall are sure to be treasured.

(Pssst, if you’re a mama, leave the magazine open to this page on your coffee table and send a little clue to the family!)
