Hey there spouses everywhere, listen up! Hands down, most moms just want to sleep in, go to the bathroom in peace for one day, and not have to figure out what’s for dinner. It’s really that simple.

But moms also love a thoughtful gift on Mother’s Day. Don’t worry, it doesn’t have to be extravagant or cost a fortune. Here are three ideas that you can create with your kids, that any mom will love for Mother’s Day!

For the reader mom

Take a photo of your little one with his or her arms raised. Get the photo developed (4×6 longways is perfect), and get it laminated at an office supply store. Cut the photo into the shape of a bookmark, pop a hole at the top, add some ribbon so it looks like your child is holding the ribbon, and you have a personalized bookmark.

Add in that book she’s been talking about or a gift certificate to a bookstore, and you’re golden.

For the earthy mom

Create a succulent garden that needs little attention but always looks cool. You can make it in any container found around your house. Try a mason jar, an old mug, a cool bowl, or create one in the crevices in a piece of driftwood. Let your kids add the following “ingredients,” in this order, to the container:mothers day gift

  1. Sand
  2. Stones
  3. Smaller stones
  4. Activated charcoal
  5. Sphagnum moss
  6. Soil
  7. Plants and other goodies like seashells

For a shallow container like driftwood, it’s okay to only use Sphagnum moss, soil and plants. Water with a spray bottle once a week.

For the sporty mom

Have fun creating a killer playlist for mom to listen to while on her walks or runs, or while working out at the gym. Make it a dance party with the kids, and let them give their “yea” or “nay” for which songs to add. You could even record a message of them cheering mom on and include it in the mix. Throw in a pair of wireless sport headphones or a fun-colored Hydro Flask to complete this workout treat.
