Roundabout Demonstration: Free Hot Wheels cars for the first 300 kids!!!

The County of Maui will present a demonstration on how to use the Lipoa Street Roundabout on Saturday, December 3rd, at the Pi’ilani Village Shopping Center in Kihei.

The Lipoa Street Roundabout is scheduled to be operational by the end of March 2012. To help educate motorists, the County is using a rendering of the roundabout and a demonstration video so that residents can learn how use this traffic alternative to a four-way stop.

Children and parents who can demonstrate their understanding of proper roundabout use will receive a free Hot Wheels toy car, limited to the first 300 participants.

The roundabout demonstration booth will be located at the Food Court, near the Santa Claus picture booth from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The demonstration is part of the Christmas at Pi’ilani Village Shopping Center event featuring live music from Ekolu and Manali`i, Christmas tree giveaways, and a Food Bank donation drive.

Mayor Alan Arakawa will also be there as part of his County on Your Corner initiative. He is joined by members of his administration and County Councilman Don Couch.
