The juried Craft Fair features more than 100 local artisans, live entertainment, great food, live and silent auctions, activities for kids, rummage and plant sales, and more. Fun for the whole family.

$5 Admission. Children 12 and under are free.

haina houJoin us as Malihini Keahi-Heath presents “May Day is Lei Day for Mothers Day.” Participate in an interactive demonstration of “haku and huli” lei making. Along with their fragrant beauty, flower lei have become a symbol of never ending love and friendship. Malihini will teach participants how to create their own hair piece and/or lei in the “braided (haku) or turn (huli)” style of lei making.

Born and raised in Lahaina, Maui, once the capitol of the Hawaiian Kingdom, Malihini remains rooted in the ways of old Hawai’i. She is a beacon of hospitality and aloha sharing the knowledge and values passed down from her kupuna. Polynesian arts and crafts will also be available for purchase just in time for Mothers Day.

In addition, the popular candlelit tour of the Baldwin Home Museum will be held from 6-8:30pm. The museum is located on the corner of Front and Dickenson streets. The $7 fee includes admission to the Wo Hing Museum at 858 Front Street. Children 12 and under accompanied by a paying adult are free.

Ha’ina Hou is a free monthly program held on the 2nd Friday of every month.

Exploring the Brain

A Workshop for Grandparents and Grandchildren

Grandparents and their grandchildren are invited to spend a morning of fun and learning with the University of Hawaii at Manoa Cooperative Extension on Saturday, May 11, 2013 from 9:30 – 11:30am at the Exploring the Brain workshop.  Participants will explore and participate in games and activities that are healthy for brains of all ages.  This workshop is most ideal for elementary age students and their grandparents.

Strawberry U-Pick Patch at Kula Country Farms

Do you know that there’s a farm on Maui where you can “pick your own strawberries?” Can’t get any fresher than that!

Everyone is invited to come and pick their own strawberries. There will be a plant sale with starters for your garden and lots of strawberry plants for purchase.

The farm stand will be decorated with giant sunflowers (they have lots of honey they want to sell). The focus will be “Bees and what they do” in the Children’s Garden. The Food Trailer will sell Strawberry Shortcake and other strawberry desserts.

Festivities will begin on Friday, May 10th with the Matsuri Movie Night from 6:30p to 9:00pand the Matsuri Festival on Saturday, May 11th from 2:00p to 9:00p.  The Movie Night and the Matsuri Festival will be held on the campus of the University of Hawaii – Maui College on the Great Lawn.
