As the premier leadership development organization for girls, Girl Scouts of Hawaiʻi is truly paving the way for the next generation of young women. Celebrating a milestone centennial anniversary, Girl Scouts of Hawaiʻi is committed to its long-term mission to build girls of courage, confidence and character who make the world a better place.

At the organization’s core is the Girl Scout Leadership Experience, which equips girls with valuable life skills and the foundation they’ll need to succeed in future endeavors. Surrounding the Girl Scout Leadership Experience are the key fields of science, technology, engineering and math (STEM), outdoor experiences, community service projects, and entrepreneurship. In an ongoing effort to expose scouts to the STEM fields, Girl Scouts of Hawaiʻi is always offering opportunities for scouts to explore these new subjects as they recognize that careers in the STEM industries are certainly within their reach.

STEM Fest is the premier annual event for scouts from kindergarten through 12th grade to explore a diverse range of STEM careers through one-on-one interaction with female STEM professionals who love what they do. This year’s STEM Fest on Maui took place on Saturday, September 23 at Lokelani Intermediate School. STEM Camps are also held every summer for Girl Scouts across the state.

In addition to its dedication to STEM education, Girl Scouts of Hawaiʻi is also well known for its iconic cookies, which serve a larger purpose. The Girl Scout Cookie Program is the largest girl-led business in the country, and introduces scouts to the valuable “five life skills”: goal setting, decision-making, money management, people skills and business ethics.

And of course, let’s not forget camping! Situated in secluded and breathtaking Makawao, Camp Piʻiholo is an intimate, tree-shrouded getaway featuring a kitchen and well-furnished lodge area that can accommodate up to 35 people. Scouts love escaping to Camp Piʻiholo where troops can take advantage of both the outdoor program and conference programs.

For the past 100 years, Girl Scouts of Hawaiʻi has helped girls develop their full potential, relate to others with understanding and respect, and contribute to the betterment of the community. Through the generous support of the Hawaii community, Girl Scouts of Hawaiʻi will continue to build girls of courage, confidence and character for 100 years to come.
