Yummy! It’s always time for Apple Pie!

1 cup chopped nuts
1 1/3 cup rolled oats
1 1/3 cup wheat germ
1 cup grated dried unsweetened coconut
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup whole wheat flour
6 tablespoons raw or brown sugar
4 tablespoons melted butter
6 tablespoons water
Mix the nuts and dry ingredients together.

Add the butter and the water, and gently toss to coat the dry ingredients. You can also used premade granola and add the butter and water to it.

Immediately press into a buttered 9-inch pie pan.

Apple Pie Filling
5½ to 6 cups thinly-sliced peeled apples
⅓ cup sugar
2 teaspoons lemon juice
¼ teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 tablespoon arrowroot or cornstarch
1 tablespoon  butter

Preheat the oven to 350 ℉.

Steam the apples until they start to become tender, about 5 minutes. Drain well. Mix with the remaining ingredients for the filling.

Melt the butter. Mix into the filling.

Spoon into the crust and spread evenly. Sprinkle the top with the remaining granola mixture.

Bake until crust is lightly browned, 30 to 40 minutes.
