ALEXANDER ACADEMY PERFORMING COMPANY PRESENTS SWAN LAKE MARCH 15 &16

The Nonprofit Dance Company Will Perform Contemporary and Jazz Pieces Alongside the Traditional Ballet, Featuring Students Ages 3 to AdultHanna Odette 230

Alexander Academy Performing Company (AAPC), the nonprofit branch of the donation-based dance studio Alexander Academy of Performing Arts (AAPA), will perform Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake March 15 and 16 at Seabury Hall’s ‘A‘ali‘ikuhonua Creative Arts Center. Four performances throughout the weekend will showcase the talent and skill of over 150 student dancers from ages three years old to adult.

Swan Lake will open with select contemporary and jazz pieces choreographed by AAPA faculty, offering a modern interpretation of the classic ballet. Executive Director Danelle Watson reflects, “we are known for our strong ballet department, but we have proven our versatility with exciting contemporary works as well.  Our productions exhibit the variety of dance styles taught at the Academy, which have been very successful and esteemed by our Maui audiences.”

Swan Lake is one of the most famous yet challenging ballets to perform given its complex choreography and multiple lead roles. Special to this year’s production, professional ballet dancer Nathaniel Hunt will join the AAPC cast as Prince Siegfried. “We are extremely excited to provide our advanced dancers with the opportunity to partner with a male lead onstage and have our talented corps de ballet perform such beautiful, intricate choreography” says Watson. “We strive for a professional experience for all our students, and it shows with the quality of our Hanna Odette 354annual productions”. Hunt graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelors of Fine Arts in Dance from Long Island University-Brooklyn, and has studied at the Ailey School, Earl Mosley’s Institute for the Arts, and the Joffrey Ballet School.

General Admission tickets with bench seating are $18 for adults, $10 for keiki ages 3-12. VIP seats are available at $30 for adults, $20 for keiki. Tickets are on sale beginning January 17 at alexanderacademy.info. Showtimes will be 2:00 PM and 6:00 PM Saturday and Sunday, with a multiple-show discount for those wishing to see two or more performances featuring different dancers in the select roles.
