Observe & Play Family Day

‘Ike Kanaka Observe & Play Family Day is a special pre-opening event with an opportunity to visit the gallery for a special chance to meet the artists, who will share insight into their processes through demonstrations and hands-on art making, including lauhala weaving, ‘ohe kapala printing, pōhaku stone carving, and more! Keiki will have an opportunity to create their own piece of art to take home.

Bless the Sanctuary

The Hawaiian Islands Humpback Whale National Marine Sanctuary is hosting a blessing of the remodeled center in Kīhei, Maui.

Located in Kīhei on the south shore of Maui, the visitor center is an ideal spot to learn about the marine environment and even see humpback whales breaching. This scenic beachfront location at the foot of Haleakalā has views of Kahoʻolawe, Lānaʻi, and West Maui looking across the waters of the sanctuary. The visitor center features exhibits, interactive displays, and weekly programs for the whole family.

Try contra/square dancing

Contra/ square dance on January 14, called by Claire Takemori. Claire is a sought-after caller in her home state of California. Her dances are a lot of fun for everyone – no experience or partner is required! There will be live Old Time and Celtic music to dance to, and all ages are welcome. Not sure if you want to dance? Come for the music and the camaraderie! $15 per adult; children under 12 free.
