TurnKey Music Academy is the fresh face of music instruction on Maui. Launching a brand new Youth Choir, the school aims to be Maui’s hip alternative to the run-of-the-mill mainstream music curriculum. “A repertoire chosen by students fuels the passion,” says co-founder Toby Couture, “while our experience allows the same music fundamentals to be taught in an exciting way.”
Sessions are available on a variety of instruments and vocal styles. “Singers should have the opportunity to sing with a live band, not just along with a CD,” Turnkey co-founder Danielle Delaunay insists. “It makes the process more fun when they can do it with friends.”
In the Choir setting, or in smaller groups (“Band Practice”) with a familiar pop/rock instrumentation, the school encourages students to write their own songs as well as covers, record original demos and start playing their own shows. Those who want to take their musicianship to the next level will find a group of like-minded students on their path to musical excellence.
