New Princess Dance Camp gives MAPA students the royal treatment
There’s something magical about dressing up in costumes and letting your imagination take you on an adventure. And, for many young girls, nothing’s quite as special as being a princess!
In that spirit, new MAPA dance instructor Katie Higuchi has found a truly unique way to introduce children to ballet while setting their inner princesses free.
Princess Dance Camp’s Royal Court
Fall Break week, 16 girls ages 3-5 spent three hours a day wearing their finest royal attire and learning the basics of ballet while tying in popular tales about magic kingdoms, handsome princes, scary villains and more.

Katie explained, “It’s so much fun seeing the students get lost in these familiar stories. The way they carry themselves…you can see that they really transform into princesses over the course of the week. And ballet gives them the physical vocabulary to truly become that person.”
Here’s celebrating the prince and princess in all of us!
