The Preschool Open Doors (POD) program has opened an additional . Applications for the 2016-2017 POD year are being accepted untilMay 31, 2016. There is limited time to apply! Applications must be received at the Oahu POD officeat 560 North Nimitz Highway, Suite 218, Honolulu, HI, 96817 or via fax (808)694-3066 by May 31, 2016to be considered for preschool participation during July 1, 2016 to June 30, 2017.
POD helps qualifying low- and moderate-income families send their children to preschool by providing child care subsidies to the family. Priority is given to children with special needs or at-risk factors. Household size and monthly gross income also are used to determine priority for enrollment.
Families with children born between August 1, 2011 and July 31, 2012 may apply for the 2016-2017 POD year. Families are reminded that a child must be five years old on or before July 31 to enter kindergarten.
The POD program is operated by People Attentive To Children (PATCH) on behalf of the State of Hawaii Department of Human Services (DHS). Applications are available for download from the PATCH website www.patchhawaii.org. You also can call
