Maui Academy of Performing Arts is seeking 100+ ballerinas (male and female – all levels) for a production of MAPA’s Nutcracker Sweets.  To audition, arrive 15 minutes early to fill out registration form and be measured.  Rehearsals run every Saturday, September 22 – December 1 with an additional final dress rehearsal on Friday, December 7.  Performances are Saturday, December 8 at 2pm & 7pm.  $95 per dancer production fee.  For more information, call Kathleen Schulz, Dance Director, at 283-0375 or the MAPA office at 244-8760.

Whole Foods Market

On Sunday, Sept. 9, Whole Foods Market will be hosting a donation day to help fund salad bars or other healthy eating programs in Maui schools. Whole Foods Market will contribute $1 per pound purchased from its salad and hot food bars to fund local salad bar school grants. Donations will be made to the Whole Kids Foundation and will be earmarked specifically to benefit our island.

Whole Foods Market is a founding member of the Let’s Move Salad Bars to Schools initiative, which aims to bring healthy vegetable and fruit options to kids at school in support of First Lady Michelle Obama’s Let’s Move! effort to end childhood obesity. To date, more than $3.7 million has been raised to put 1,435 salad bars in schools throughout the country.
