Fights & Delights: Three Chinese/Xiqu Comedies

March 9 @ 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm

Seabury Hall’s ‘A’ali’ikūhonua Creative Arts Center

The University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa Department of Theatre & Dance presents its final performance of FIGHTS & DELIGHTS: THREE CHINESE/XIQU COMEDIES, a laughter-filled experience in Xiqu, or indigenous Chinese theatre (often referred to as Chinese/Beijing “opera”).
Showcasing the vibrancy of traditional Chinese theatre, these delightfully contrasting plays celebrate the chou – or comic – character, an irrepressible force of comedy who continually reveals the laughter in life. Filled with convoluted acrobatic contortions, mistaken identities, adorable lovers, and exhilarating battles, this celebration of “the clown” will appeal to audiences of all ages. www.fightsanddelights.space
