Come and enjoy the 62nd Annual 4th of July Makawao Rodeo! There will be entertainment, food, and good ʻol country fun! Tickets available at the gate. The Slack events will run on Thurs and Friday from 9-Pau. Bull Bash begins at 7pm with a pre show. The finals will begin on Saturday and Sunday at 1pm until pau!!

Keokea……….On Friday, June 30, 2017, renowned violinist, Gregory Walker, will hold a master class for area students, and an informance on modern music for violin.
The event will take place at Maui Music Conservatory, Queen Kaahumanu Center, 2nd floor, 275 Kaahumanu Ave., in Kahului, Ruth Murata, owner.
Admission is free.
SCHEDULE:
6:15 – 7PM – master class for three students of Teresa Skinner, director of Suzuki Maui.
7 – 7:30 dinner break, meet the artist
7:30 – 8:15 – Informance on modern music for violin
Joining Gregory Walker will be his wife, pianist Lori Wolf Walker.
They will perform:

Sonata No. 1 for Violin and Piano – George Walker (1958)
Sonata for Violin and Piano – Bernard Stevens (1940)
La La, and the Life Goes On for Violin and Piano – Gregory T.S. Walker (2010)
Gregory’s father, Dr. George Walker, is the first African-American to receive the Pulitzer Prize in Music. Dr. Walker serves as Honorary President of Ebb & Flow Arts. All the works are Hawai’i premieres. We encourage audience members to ask questions and interact with the performers. Gregory Walker teaches at the University of Colorado/Boulder. He has been described as “an excellent soloist” (New York Times), with “…a silky violin tone and beautifully calibrated phrasing…” (Newark Star-Ledger).
