World Whale Film Festival

The annual World Whale Film Festival promotes visual storytellers who are passionate about our oceans and tell powerful stories about ocean and wildlife conservation at home and around the world. Tickets are only $10 ($20 VIP) and all proceeds benefit Pacific Whale Foundation’s mission to protect the ocean through science and advocacy and inspire environmental stewardship.

We are happy to have Wailuku-born Kaimana Brummel emcee this Maui Whale Festival event at Iao Theater. We excited to have a special premiere of ‘A Voice for Whales’, the story of our founder Greg Kaufman, as told by his wife, filmmaker Selket Kaufman. Additional films include ʻHow A Song Saved A Speciesʻ by french animator Remi Cans, ‘Reef Revolution’ by Project Reef Life New Zealand, ‘Bring Your Own’ by students with Maui Huliau Foundation, ‘Coral Restoration’ by PWF captain Andrew Raak, and more.

Arrive early to enjoy interactive booths and grab food from Maui food trucks to make this a dinner and movie night you won’t soon forget.

Youth Outdoor Art Workshop & Reception

WORKSHOP OVERVIEW:

Students will paint the landscape around them using high quality tempera paints. (Paints are washable but students should wear clothing that can withstand some paint). Please wear sunscreen and bring a beach chair or towel to sit on.

Students will be able to paint multiple paintings of varying sizes or choose to work on only one painting. Each student will select one painting to exhibit and submit it for judging at the Pioneer Inn Snug Harbor Room by 2pm. Prizes awarded (1st, 2nd, and 3rd) in each age group; Elementary, Intermediate, and High School.

Awards Reception for students, parents and friends at Pioneer Inn from 2:30 to 3:30pm.
