Participate in Statewide Farm Day

As agriculture remains a crucial industry throughout the state, Hawai’i welcomes the 7th annual Statewide Farm Day on Saturday, June 20, 2020. “Farm Day has always been a social media event.  It’s virtual, so it happens when and where the participants are. I wanted an event that could bring us all together, and this year I find it more meaningful because of the pandemic,” explains edible Hawaiian Islands publisher Dania Novack-Katz. 2020 Statewide Farm Day offers several simple ways to express support for Hawai’i farmers:

  • SHOP at a farmers’ market
  • TAKE a farm tour
  • VISIT a farm
  • THANK a farmer
  • Then SHARE your experience on social media using hashtag #ehifarmday20

Explore the Lavender Fields

Speaking of farms, Ali’i Kula Lavender recently opened their doors again to visit the farm as well as their gift shop filled with beauty, culinary, and other local products. Their tours and treasure hunts are not currently available, but they encourage guests to explore the grounds using their garden guide. Hours: 9am-4pm and the entrance costs $2 for kama’aina, military, and seniors. Visit aliikulalavender.com.

Paint with Friends and Dad

Island Art Party’s Surfboard Saturday is back as well as their retail store. On June 20th from 7pm-9:30pm paint ‘Tranquil Cove’ on a small, wood surfboard. Gather your friends for a night out! On June 21st, join the studio for Father’s Day Family Class from 2-430pm. Ages 8 and up are welcome to paint ‘Heart Wave’ and all Dads get $5 off. For more details, visit islandartparty.com.
