summer safety fair 010

Maui Memorial Medical Center is getting geared up for Maui County Summer Safety Fair. Maui Memorial Medical Centers Trauma Services is focused on reaching our children of all ages to provide information aimed at preventing trauma related injuries or death.  Maui County paramedics have responded to thousands of injuries that could be been prevented.  The inaugural event always showcases an array of booths that are guaranteed to be fun for everyone in your family. Various hospital departments and a multitude of community agencies and organizations will be featuring hands on activities, including free CPR training, samples, healthy cooking and educational exhibits.  “The goal of this event is to educate the public in preventing injuries in hopes that they will take this information, apply it to their own lives, and share it with others” said Anna-Marie Later, a registered nurse and Maui County trauma program coordinator for Maui Memorial Medical Center and the State Department of Health.

Participating organizations include, Maui Police Department who did child safety seat inspections, Maui Fire Department did child identification cards, Kula Hospital who provided healthy cooking demonstrations.  There is something for everyone and is fun and educational for the whole family.
