Maui Academy of Performing Arts (MAPA) presents four spectacular dance shows for the entire family on May 5th & 6th at Maui Arts & Cultural Center’s Castle Theater. The weekend opens with the MAPA Spring Extravaganza, an annual recital on Saturday afternoon, featuring dancers of all ages strutting their stuff in hip hop, jazz, contemporary and tap.
On Saturday evening, MAPA’s most experienced dancers present extraordinary original choreography in the “MOVES” dance concert, themed “From Hollywood to New York,” featuring dance moves inspired by iconic music that defines the major American cities from coast to coast. The choreographers include many veteran MAPA dance teaching artists.
On Sunday, MAPA presents two performances of the ballet “Alice In Wonderland.” Based on Lewis Carroll’s well-known children’s story, this whimsical ballet features more than 200 MAPA ballerinas. Appropriate for audiences of all ages.
