Hi`i Na Kupuna Coalition is a group of Maui grandparents, residents, and service providers who develop resources and support for grandparents raising grandchildren. A few years ago, the Coalition conducted a needs assessment. Grandparents overwhelmingly said grandchildren need affordable afterschool activities and grandparents need information and referrals to help overcome challenges they face.
Those discussions were the start of something fantastic – the FREE Fall and Spring Break Workshops for Grandparents and Grandchildren! One morning during each break, grandparents and grandchildren come together to learn, play, and eat.
Fall Break 2015 is right around the corner! Consider joining Hi`i Na Kupuna on Tuesday October 6th from 9am-12noon in the Community Services Building on the UH Maui College Campus. The topic is legal issues facing grandfamilies and will include speakers from the legal field as well as Maui Police Department.
