The African savannah comes to life on stage with Simba, Rafiki and an unforgettable cast of characters as Maui Academy of Performing Arts’ (MAPA) Youth Summer Musical Theatre Camp presents eight performances of Disney’s The Lion King Jr during the weekend of July 26-29 at the Aʻaliʻikūhonua Creative Arts Center, Seabury Hall.

The show is co-directed by Sally Sefton and Logan Heller, with music direction by Danielle Mealani Delaunay, choreography and costume design by Kathleen Schulz and set design by Jamie Tait. All students perform in the show. The camp runs June 18-July 25 at MAPA Main Studios, 2027 Main Street in Wailuku.

Firmly rooted in the philosophy that sustained, regular participation in the arts is essential to the development of young people, MAPA’s Youth Summer Musical Theatre Camp provides each student with over 180 hours of instructional, rehearsal and performance time.
