When the Maui heat can’t be beat, find your way to a frozen treat. You could be transported to a world of butterflies and rainbows, or at the very least you’ll cool down as you fire up your taste buds.

Go Old School

Tasaka Guri Guri
If you grew up on Maui, it’s likely that a paper cup and a wooden spoon will remind you of the frozen classic that is Tasaka Guri Guri. This mix between a sorbet and an ice cream is a favorite of Maui grown keiki. You can buy select flavors by the quart – but hurry, they sell out quickly!
Monday – Saturday 10 am – 4 pm. Maui Mall 70 East Kaahumanu Ave, Kahului

Cookie Monster

Dolish
If you’re nostalgic about sneaking bites of cookie dough as a child (and dare I say licking the mixers!) you’ll love this edible cookie dough food trailer opened by a Maui girl and graduate of the Maui Culinary Academy.
Thursday – Sunday 10 am – 5 pm. Trailer parked at the Maui Golf and Sports Park in Ma’alaea.

The Finer Things

Ululani’s Hawaiian Shave Ice
What sets them apart is their superfine ice; if you know, you know. With the first store opening in Lahaina in 2008, they have grown into 7 locations on Maui. Try adding gummi bears and drizzling with condensed milk or Li Hing Mui powder on your next visit.
Check their website for locations and hours.

They use raw Maui cane sugar and fruit purees in their toppings and you can get yours with coffee syrup, put vegan coconut ice cream on the bottom, or have them pour chocolate syrup over the top. Read about the history of shave ice on their website or invite them to your next party.

Throw it Out There
