Rise and Move Forward

Maui Matsuri, Maui’s celebration of Japanese culture is back! After this long and challenging year, the 2021 festival theme of “noboru” meaning “to rise and move forward” is the inspiration for this year’s art contest. Young artists from K-12th grades are encouraged to submit an entry to Ben Franklin Crafts store at the Queen Ka’ahumanu Center, Kahului by 9/10/21. There will be cash prizes for 1st and 2nd place in each division. For more information, visit mauimatsuri.com.

Pick up a game

Attention all the pickle ball and soccer fans! A brand new sports facility called URBN BALR has opened in Kahului off Alamaha with freshly paved courts that have plenty of space. The vision is to offer a safe space for all ages to play sports with plans to incorporate music and art at the venue. The schedule for pick-up games, pickle ball, street ball leagues, and more are listed on the website. We can’t wait to see this new outdoor offering evolve and grow. urbnbalr.com.
