This summer, readers of all ages will be invited to enjoy the rich and varied stories that shape our community as part of the Hawaii State Public Library System’s annual Summer Reading Challenge, E Heluhelu Kākou; Moʻolelo, which begins June 1.

✈️ If you join and log minutes, you will be entered into a drawing for a grand prize of four roundtrip tickets on Alaska Airlines to travel and build your own new stories!

Here’s how it works:

📖 Register at librarieshawaii.org/summerreading
📖 Start reading on June 1.
📖 Read at least one hour per week.
📖 Log your reading minutes using the Beanstack app or librarieshawaii.beanstack.org

☀️ Maui OnStage Education & Youth Program (Sponsored)

Students of all levels will explore elements of theater including vocalization, character development, music, movement, dance, and ensemble-building. Through theater exercises, students will build acting skills needed to create truthful characters. Each week will focus on a different theme and students will be working on short plays that will be performed for families each Friday evening. Students will also be learning from a variety of teaching artist who will teach things like tap, musical theater dance, puppetry, scenery painting, and more.

Use this off-season to take your game to the next level. This summer, Hitter’s Paradise indoor training facility will host three sessions of 3-day baseball camps focused on players aged 7 to 12. The camps will be overseen by skilled and knowledgeable coaches and will cover all areas of the game: hitting, fielding, throwing, base running, understanding the game, and age-appropriate physical conditioning.
