Clear the Shelter

Maui Humane Society is hosting a ONE DAY adoption event this weekend on September 18th from 11-3pm. If you needed a reason to come by, now is the time! Stop by the shelter between 11-3pm to meet your new cat, kitten, critter or dog for your ohana. No appointments and no fees, as the adoption event has been sponsored by the Dave & Cheryl Duffield Foundation. Try your new furry friend out with the Paws to Adopt program, a 10 day trial with a pet before needing to commit to an adoption! (County licensing fees for dogs still applies, puppies and kokua breeds are excluded from promotion). There will be food trucks and vendors ready for your (socially distant) entertainment. Visit Creatures Big and Small

If you’re not quite ready to committ to a pet this weekend, check out all the places you can take your keiki to bond with their favorites animals in our story Explore the Animal Kingdom with Your Keiki. Whether your child loves insects (try the Butterfly Farm) or enjoy more furry adventures (Maui Alpaca Farm), there’s something for everyone to hold, observe, and play with on the island. Plus, most options can be safely enjoyed outdoors.
