The 54th Barrio Fiesta
A two-day celebration of Filipino culture, the Barrio Fiesta will take place at the Binhi at Ani Filipino Community Center in Kahului this weekend. Starting Friday, May 26th from 5 pm – 10 pm and continuing on Saturday, May 27 from 10 am – 10 pm. The event will be filled with contests, cultural exhibits, entertainment, delicious Filipino foods, and more.

Child Safety Seat Inspection Event: The Maui Police Department will be hosting a child safety seat inspection event on Saturday, May 27, 2023, between 10 am and 2 pm. at the Maui Marketplace in Kaului parking lot. This event will provide a free, no-obligation inspection of child safety seats to ensure they are correctly installed and functioning properly to keep children safe in the event of a crash.
Imua Butterfly Festival
There will be activities for the whole family at the Imua Discovery Garden this Saturday from 4 – 8 pm. Bring a blanket and your keiki for the Little Critters Petting Area, food trucks, a performance by Uncle Wayne and the Howling Dog Band, and more. When the sun goes down, experience a one-night-only Light Up Sculpture Garden in collaboration with Small Town Big Art.

Japanese Festival
Maui Matsuri presents the Japanese Festival at the University of Hawaii Maui College this Saturday. There will be free entertainment, kids’ crafts, food booths and trucks, crafters, exhibits, cosplay activities, eating contests, and bon dancing.

200-Year Celebration of Waiola Church
Waiola Church, formerly Waineʻe Church, founded in 1823 by Queen Keōpūolani, has been a community cornerstone for nearly 200 years. In celebration of those 200 years, the church will be hosting events on Memorial Weekend. The public is invited to the main event on Saturday, May 27, 2023 from 9 am to 8 pm to enjoy entertainment, historical presentations, cultural demonstrations, craft vendors, and culminating in a lūʻau dinner. The community is welcome to enjoy the activities throughout the day at no cost. The lūʻau will be a ticketed event with tickets being available online.

Huliau Youth Foundation Environmental Film Festival
On Sunday, Maui Huliau Foundation will be hosting the Huliau Youth Foundation Environmental Film Festival at the Imua Discovery Garden. Students from multiple Maui schools will present their short environmental films covering a wide range of topics. Bring your own blanket or chair to this outdoor film showing on the grass in the garden.
