Celebrate the Year of the Tiger

In honor of the traditional Chinese New Year, Maui Mall Village will be hosting a Year of the Tiger Celebration on Saturday, January 29th. From 2 – 6 pm, the center will host a keiki craft event in the center court area, a one-day shopping pass and special performances at center stage. In support of Big Brothers Big Sisters Maui, the Year of the Tiger Craft Center will be open to reservations through Eventbrite for a small donation to the organization upon arrival. Walk-up reservations are available on a first come, first served basis. Donations accepted include new, unopened school supplies, monetary cash or check donations, online donations using a QR code link, or signing up to be a mentor and apart of the program. Root for Maui’s young bodyboarders and surfers

The 24th Annual Pā‘ia Bay Beachfest, held on Saturday, January 29th at Pā‘ia Bay, is a fun and family-friendly showcase for Maui’s young bodyboarders and surfers to boast their style, tricks, and barrel-riding aptitude. This event is the only one of its kind at Pā‘ia Bay and is a tradition for generations of Maui board-riders. There will be special guests, emcees, and judges, including world-champion waterman Kai Lenny. A day of competitive wave-riding will be followed by an awards ceremony at sunset. Kai Lenny will be hosting a booksigning from 1-3pm at the Hurley Ten at Pai’ia Bay. His book Big Wave Surfer, will be available for purchase and autograph. Each copy is $100 and all sales go to support the PYCC. The first heat is in the water at 7:30 am following the event blessing ceremony and dedication. Families and friends can follow the score live and view the heats and schedule in advance. All registration and event information are at pyccmaui.org

This event is in Loving Memory of Dylan Collins, who passed away during summer of 2021. Dylan was an all-around waterman, a Beachfest competitor, and a member of the PYCC.

Attend the Art of Aloha

For a unique art fix, visit Maui’s 20th annual “Art of Aloha” which is taking place at Lahaina Galleries in the Shops at Wailea on January 30th, from 12:00pm – 3:00pm. Attend to enjoy eight captivating artists from around the world, Guy Buffet, Dario Campanile, Carrie Graber, Ronaldo Macedo, Robert Lyn Nelson, Michael Talbot, Steve Turnbull, and Donna Young.
