Peter and the Starcatcher

It’s opening night at the Historic Iao Theater. Long before the Darling children flew with Peter Pan and Tinkerbell to the “second star to the right, and straight on till morning”… there was an apprentice Starcatcher named Molly, a nameless boy and his orphan friends, and a pirate named Black Stache with his crew.  Follow them on their high seas adventure from perilous pirate pillaging to amazing adventures on a faraway island.  Enjoy a mix of historical fact, the fictional world of Neverland, and modern pop culture references in this uniquely imaginative Play with Music.

  • Historic Iao Theater, Wailuku
  • Opening night 2/23 through 3/10
  • Friday, Saturday 730pm; Sun 3pm
  • Recommended to ages 10 and up

Our Island Ecosystems

The event welcomes learners of all ages to explore the fascinating ecosystems that make our islands so unique. Guided by experts, come and see rare botanical specimens no longer found in the wild, transplant native saplings for reforestation, extract plant seeds for a seed bank, try your hand at art-making processes using natural materials, learn about the island’s water systems with an interactive map, and hear stories from conservationists about their extensive efforts to care for the wondrous flora and fauna of Maui’s ecosystem. Exhibiting artist Zach Pezzillo will be in the gallery to share about his work photographing endemic species. Other offerings include lei-making and weaving activities with Lauren Shearer and Pōhaku Kahoʻohanohano, as well as a large-scale moku puzzle of Maui.
