After a short break, The Weekend Guide is back! As restrictions begin to ease throughout Hawaii, residents are finding their personal comfort level with venturing out. We rounded up some options for those eager to get out and for those that continue to hunker down at home.
Explore the Deybra Fair Exhibit
Bring the family to the Hui No’eau this weekend to explore the grounds and check out the exhibit featuring Deybra Fair. Trinkets, Tokens & Treasures of a Charmed Life is a collection of assemblages, installations, and mixed medium works commemorating her expansive 40-year art career on Maui. If you prefer staying home, click here to view this exhibition virtually. Runs until July 25th.
Get Lost in a Book
Barnes & Noble at the Maui Marketplace opened their doors for in-store shopping, so if your family is starved for new books or need gifts for Father’s Day, head on in. If you prefer staying home, Hawaii state libraries are now offering Library Take-Out. Go to Library Catalog or call library branch to place a hold on the item(s) you would like borrow. After receiving a notice that your item(s) are ready for pick up, you can schedule a Library Take Out appointment online with the library that is on the hold notice.
Maui’s Teens Got Talent
The Boys & Girls Club of Hawaii is hosting a Virtual Teen Talent Show & Concert on Saturday, June 13, 2020 from 2pm-5pm (pre-registration required). Register for your virtual ticket & submit a question for Anuhea, Josh Tatofi, and Jason Arcilla to be entered to win great prizes, including $50 gift cards and more!
Dine-In at Your Favorite Restaurant
If you’re looking for a family night out, restaurants are slowly opening their doors for dine-in service. Check out the dining offers on Kamaaina First, along with many other deals for the local community. If you’re not ready to sit in a restaurant, you can still support by ordering take out or delivery.
Find a Summer Camp or Class for Your Keiki
Although some camps have had to cancel, many are still available to enjoy. Explore our Virtual Summer Camp Guide now for options. Ongoing classes in Education, Sports, and Art/Dance/Music can also be explored on our Calendar.
Bonus! Pick up Free Plants
A wonderful partnership has formed for a more sustainable island and food security. Every Saturday from 12-2 PM (until August 1st) Maui Family YMCA and Grow Some Good, in collaboration with Goodfellow Bros, will be handing out free plants at the Maui YMCA in Kahului. This week they will have ‘uala, corn, and jicama. While supplies last.
We hope you have a wonderful weekend! Don’t forget to share your events with us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
