NOTICE OF PRESCHOOL OPEN DOORS APPLICATION PERIOD
PATCH is announcing they will be accepting applications for the Dept. of Human Services (DHS) Preschool Open Doors (POD) program starting January 2, 2018, through the closing date of March 29, 2018. Applications received during this period are for program participation July 1, 2018, through June 30, 2019.
Families whose children’s birthdays are from August 1, 2013, through July 31, 2014 are encouraged to apply. The POD program provides preschool tuition assistance to eligible families so that their child is able to receive up to a year of preschool experience prior to their entry into kindergarten. Families may choose any DHS licensed preschool. Funding for POD is limited, and priority is given to the neediest or at-risk children.

Applications must be received in the PATCH Oahu Office by March 29, 2018, in order to be considered for the July 1, 2018 – June 30, 2019, POD program year.

Here are some tips for planning ahead:
  1. Need help finding a preschool? Call 808-839-1988 or go to patchhawaii.org for preschools in your area.
  2. Many preschools have wait lists. Call in advance to learn about the preschool’s application process.
  3. Talk to the preschool to see if they accept children who are in the Preschool Open Doors program.
The Preschool Open Doors Flyer can be distributed to interested families, organizations, and community partners.  PATCH will supply color copies of the flyer upon request.  Contact them with the name, address, and the number of flyers you are requesting.
