Saturday, March 9

9:30 – 11:30am

Hyatt Regency Maui Resort & Spa will host a Tennis Festival, designed to get kids active and excited about tennis, on March 9 from 9:30AM to 11:30AM. More than a thousand facilities across the U.S. will host Tennis Festivals to showcase the fun and excitement of playing tennis, as well as sharing with parents the benefits of involving their children in the sport. Tennis Festivals welcome the whole family to play tennis at all skill levels. Parents and children are encouraged to participate and experience first-hand the way in which tennis is now sized right for their kids’ age and ability.

The Tennis Festival initiative coincides with “Tennis Night in America” on March 4th at New York’s Madison Square Garden. Tennis Night in America will feature the BNP Paribas Showdown, with 2012 US Open champion and Olympic gold medalist, Serena Williams, against the world’s No. 1 woman player, Victoria Azarenka. In addition, former World No. 1 Rafael Nadal will take on former US Open champion Juan Martin del Potro.

“Tennis Festivals are a wonderful way to introduce kids—and their parents—to the lifetime sport of tennis,” said Kurt Kamperman, USTA Chief Executive, Community Tennis. “These events are designed so that kids can experience tennis in a relaxed, fun atmosphere that will encourage them to get involved—and stay involved—in the sport.”
