Story Time and Book Signing

Maui-based writer Rukhsanna Guidroz launches her debut picture book just in time for the holidays. Guidroz will be reading Mina. vs. The Monsoon on Saturday, December 15 at Barnes and Noble, Maui Market Place, Kahului. The hour-long event kicks off with Story Time at 11am and will be followed by a Meet-The-Author and Book Signing.

Hui No‘eau Visual Arts Center presents NEW Lei Po‘o Workshop

ROSE PI‘ILANI BAILEY

Born and raised on her grandparent’s Kula farm, Rose Pi‘ilani Bailey is a hula dancer and Hawaiian arts practitioner. She has learned family traditions that have been passed down for many generations and takes pride in using many native Hawaiian plants and materials in her lei making and other hana no‘eau (arts). She uses local flowers grown at her own home, fresh from the farm, to make lei and floral arrangements. In addition, Rose collaborates on special events such as weddings and graduations, teaches the art of lei making and hula, tends to her family’s fruit and flower farms, and styles photoshoots. kularoses.com / @KulaRoses

Santa’s Workshop Pops Up at Maui Mall

Maui Mall is thrilled to announce that you and your keiki can get a free picture taken with Santa Claus right in his workshop at Maui Mall in unit B-12, across from IHOP, throughout the month of December. All your ohana has to do is make a canned food donation to the Maui Food Bank! Santa and his elves are very busy this month, so he is only available for pictures on these select dates:

  • Saturday December 15, 2018 from 12PM-5PM
  • Wednesday December 19, 2018 from 5PM-7:30PM
  • Saturday December 22, 2018 from 12PM-5PM

The Maui Food Bank will have a table set up with donation bins to receive your donation. Maui High School will be there with their photo booth for instant pictures to take home.  Maui Mall and Santa Claus are excited to visit with you and your ohana!

Sleigh Bells Lip Sync Battle

Calling all lip-syncers! QKC is hosting the first holiday lip sync battle where contestants 6 years & older
compete for a chance to win a QKC Grand Prize valued at $250. Contestants must perform one song of
their choice, which will be judged on lip sync ability, appearance and stage presence, overall creativity,
crowd appeal and audience response. Dancing is encouraged, however optional.
Judges include Maui’s own Na Hoku Hanohano multi award winner, Nāpua Greig. Nāpua is a Kumu
Hula, teacher, recording artist, mommy and most recently DJ for KPOA93.5. Jim McLemore of Jimmy
Mac & The Kool Kats, known for keeping a dance floor packed all night with tunes from today’s hits, funk and Motown, Buffet to Beach Boys, disco to swing, and just a lot of good rock and roll.

Inaugural US Kids Golf Maui Championship

Saturday, December 15 young Maui golfers will compete in the first ever U.S. Kids Maui Championship at Maui Country Club in Spreckelsville with a non-shotgun start at 7:00 a.m. The competitors range in age from 5-14 years, boys and girls who have qualified for the season finale by competing in at least four events (having met the scoring requirement two or more times).
