Join us for a morning of exploration, learning, and fun! Explore our crop fields, plant nursery, composting zone, and meet and feed our friendly farm animals including pigs, goats, rabbits, and chickens. All families and individuals are welcome!

“Endless Summer Celebration”

Kihei, Maui, Hawaii – Come to the south shore of Maui for Kihei’s Fourth Friday Town Party on August 26 from 6 to 9 p.m. at Azeka Shopping Center Mauka, the “Heart and Soul” of Kihei. Come “Play in Kihei” and enjoy free entertainment, food booths and trucks, art, crafts, and plenty of great local shopping. Entertainment by Rosalind Modica's Blues Rock Society, ROTC demonstration and Lia Live and the Remix! For the popular Keiki/Youth Zone showcasing: The Maui Spider Jump and Walk on Water Balls and a demonstration from the Maui 57th Composite Squadron (Civil Air Patrol) Drill and Ceremony. Civil Air Patrol core missions are: Aerospace Education, Emergency Services and Cadet Programs/Youth Leadership.

 

 

Activities for Keiki and Teens
The Keiki/Youth Zone provides a safe place for family-friendly activities and arts and crafts. Enjoy: DJ Ezekiel, Face Painting by Rainbow Chameleon Art Party, Balloon Twisting by Christaline, Walk on Water Balls by Morey Inc, The Maui Spider Jump, Hawaii Department of Transportation – educating parents about child safety and Hula Hooping and Bubbles for all ages.

Explore our relationships with our islands, the land, and the traditional Hawaiian food plants that gives us life! At the Maui Tropical Plantation on 27th, 9am-4pm.

 

On August 27th, a day of celebration and fun for the whole family at the Maui Tropical Plantation in Waikapu! Activities and learning for kids and adults, great food, entertainment, awards and prizes.

The Inner Circle – 14 tents feature 14 different Hawaiian food or use plants and offers a chance for practitioners to connect with each other and for visitors to connect with practitioners. Find your interests and your ono at the ‘Aina (land), Wai (water), I’a/Limu (fish/seaweed), Kalo (taro), ‘Awa/Ko (awa and sugarcane), ‘Ulu (breadfruit), ‘Uala/Mai’a (sweet potato and banana), Niu/Lolu (coconut and palms), Hala/Kumu la’au (pandanus and woods), Kaula/Ipu (cordage and gourds), Kapa/Dyes and Lei/La’au (lei and healing herbs) tents!

For kids, a Ha’i Mo’olelo story-telling tent will share the legends of these wondrous plants!

The Outer Circle – 14 conservation organizations will showcase their work in restoration and conservation, along with other vendors.

Go behind-the-scenes with a marine naturalist to explore the Aquarium lab and discover what it takes to care for the marine animals at Maui Ocean Center. Learn about sharks and turtles and enjoy the unique opportunity to feed the marine life at Turtle Lagoon and Hammerhead Harbor. Talk Story & Hula Lessons with Kahu Dane Maxwell and ‘Ohana

Maui Ocean Center’s Hawaiian Cultural Advisor Kahu Dane Maxwell and ‘Ohana (family) will conduct a talk story session and hula lesson at the end of the Open Ocean tunnel. This activity is complimentary with aquarium admission and appropriate for all ages. Schedule subject to change.

Wet Naturalist

Sundays, Wednesdays, and Fridays

See, touch, and learn about Hawaii’s marine invertebrates with a marine naturalist! Encounter Hawaii’s tide pool critters during a fun, interactive presentation. A marine naturalist will conduct the presentation from within the Discovery Pool or Tide Pool exhibit with sea cucumbers, sea stars, urchins, and other critters. Included with Aquarium admission.

Exploration Station

Featuring a monthly, rotating- themed Exploration Station at Maui Ocean Center’s Living Reef! Speak with a marine naturalist and learn about turtles in August, marine debris in September, and marine invertebrates in October. Station features include interactive displays, microscopes, and small live animals depending on the theme. Included with Aquarium admission.
