Auditions for MAPA’s Summer Musical Theatre Camp – this SUNDAY!

Maui Academy of Performing Arts (MAPA) invites performers entering 3rd grade and higher next school year to audition for the Summer 2016 Musical Theatre Camp. The camp culminates in a full-scale production of the musical Disney’s The Little Mermaid, Jr.

Students in the camp will perform in the show running July 15-24, 2016.

Auditions will be held Sunday, April 10 from 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm in the MAPA Main studios, 2027 Main Street in Wailuku.

No experience is necessary. Please wear comfortable clothes and be prepared to stay the full two hours. No preparation is necessary.

The camp runs June 6 – July 14, Mondays – Fridays, 9:00 am – 2:00 pm. Tuition for the camps is $875. A generous needs-based scholarship program is available. More information will be available after auditions.

Payment plans are also available. For students entering grades 9-12, MAPA is offering the opportunity to participate in a Work Study Program: teens who are accepted into the Work Study program will work for MAPA for 30 hours during the summer and pay a camp tuition of $300. Come face-to-face with Hawaiian green sea turtles during Turtlerrific Thursday at Maui Ocean Center. Beginning at 2pm, the Aquarium’s curatorial team will host an interactive presentation at Hammerhead Harbor. Guests will learn about the green sea turtles’ biology, behavior, and diet from the team that cares for the animals on a daily basis.

Join a knowledgeable marine naturalist and discover fascinating facts about sharks and sea turtles.
