Maui Mall Celebrates Engineering & Technology at Family Sundays Event

One student will be awarded an iPad Mini, and one adult will win a $500 prize pack

Maui Mall invites all families with school-aged children to attend its Maui Mall Family Sundays event this Sunday, April 28 from 12 to 2 p.m. This free monthly event will include student recognition, drawing for an iPad Mini, keiki activities highlighting Engineering & Technology and Super Shopper Stamp Card drawing where prizes include a prize pack valued at $500.Family Sundays

Students from Maui High School’s Robotics Team, as well as Maui Waena Intermediate School’s Technology Club, will set up displays and demonstrations. Other free crafts, games and trivia will be offered by Maui United Way and Read Aloud America. In addition, Whole Foods Market will provide free healthy snacks for the keiki. Read Aloud America will do a read aloud session immediately following the Family Sundays event in the vacant unit next to Genki Sushi.

Maui Mall will also recognize select students at center stage for their achievements in academics and character. These students have been nominated by Maui teachers, then selected by Maui Mall and entered into a student drawing where one lucky student will go home with an iPad Mini.

Maui Mall is encouraging all Maui teachers to nominate their students via online form or letter. Additionally, students who are chosen by Maui Mall from March through November will be re-entered in a cumulative drawing for a chance to win a MacBook Air notebook at the Maui Mall Family Sundays finale event on January 26, 2014.

The 16th Annual 2013 Maui Earth Day Festival will take place on Sunday, April 28th from 10am to 6pm at the Keopuolani Park Amphitheater in Kahului.  The site is located opposite the War Memorial Stadium parking lot and behind the Maui Nui Botanical Gardens, also known as the old Maui Zoo site.

There will be 2 live music stages this year featuring Makana as well as Dr. Nat & Rio Ritmo, Omar & Rare Vibrations, Haiku Hillbillys and more.  Over 40 Environmental and Social Awareness Organizations will have booths with information to share.  There will be a host of eco vendors, healthy food vendors and a farmers market.  The Keiki Fun Zone will feature a petting zoo, pony rides, horse rides and face painting.  This year has added 5 Community Forum Panel Discussions on the controversial subjects of smart meters, cane burning, ag sustainability, GMO genetically modified foods and chemtrails/geoengineering.
