Guess what…dad is the ultimate and coolest playmate a kid can have. Yup. Dads do things differently from mom, and that makes for excitement, adventure, and well, bonding time with one of the most important people in your wee one’s life.

More times than not, we moms have a hard time giving up control to daddy’s rules, but it doesn’t have to be that way. Instead, let dad take the reigns from time to time; in fact, make it a habit, a tradition, a must-do.

We’re betting dad doesn’t need all that much help–just a little nudge–to make sharing the parental duties fun. However, if your man does need a little more inspiration, check out these ideas.

Make one day during the weekend “Daddy’s morning.” Let mom sleep in while he takes over the morning routine. Remember, this is his domain so no need for him to follow the same routine mom does. Have fun and go wild.

Get Out in Nature
As a small child, there are few things more fun than going on an adventure with your dad. Take the adventure outside–head to the beach for a surf lesson, take a hike with the kids, or grab a fishing pole and head to the local holes for some wrangling action. The memories are sure to last a lifetime.

Mr. Fixer
Let the older kids help dad with chores around the house. Doing a little house updating is more fun when kids get to share in the making. Let older school-aged kids help with measuring and hammering things. Little tykes can help with painting or holding a measuring tape. This is a great way to get things done and have time with the kids too.
