Wheel Throwing & Hand Building

SESSION II: Thursdays, 8 weeks: April 5 – May 24, 3 – 5 pm

Ceramics Studio

Prepare to be amazed at the bowls, cups, and vases created in this introductory ceramics class! Students will learn the basic elements of wheel throwing as well as more advanced techniques to add design and texture to work. Families are invited to attend the final session to view class work, pick up pieces, and meet your young artist’s new friends!

Claymazing! – Hand Building in Clay

Children’s Studio

Let your child’s imagination soar as visions come to life in clay! Keiki will put their hands to work as they plan and execute exciting ceramics projects that are both unique and functional. In addition to having a rewarding afterschool activity, young artists will also benefit from learning fundamental hand building techniques from slabs to sgraffito.

Music Inspired Images: A Digital Photography Course for Young Adults

Media Lab

Through listening to music and watching snippets from films where the music and imagery enhance each other, students will exercise their imaginations and create photographs from the stories that arise in their minds – inspired by the songs assigned to them over this 8 week course. As their creativity is sparked, the students will also be learning how to use their cameras technically; becoming familiar with exposure, composition and mood. By the end of the course the students will have a dvd slideshow of their images and the songs that inspired them.

Jewelry Making I for Teens

SESSION II: Mondays, 6 weeks: Feb 27 – Apr 9, 4 – 6 pm

SESSION III: Mondays, 6 weeks: Apr 16 – May 20, 4 – 6 pm

Jewelry Studio

If you’ve ever wanted to create your own jewelry, this is the class for you! Students will cut, drill and pierce metal and learn various soldering techniques. Projects may include pendants, bracelets, earrings, and/or rings. Students will also have the option of making jewelry that incorporates seashells. Copper and brass sheet metal and wire are included in the supply fee and sterling silver will be available for purchase. Please bring any shells to class!
