Family Friday: Decoupage Heart Boxes

Celebrate the month of love by creating one-of-a-kind decoupage heart boxes. By using tissue paper, magazine clippings, paint and other crafting supplies, you and your children will leave with a beautiful project made with a lot of love and heart!

Spend some creative time with your little one as you work together to create artwork inspired by children’s books. After learning the stories and talking about the illustrations, we will explore other imagery by painting with tempera and watercolors, sculpting with air-dry clay, and drawing with colored pencils, markers, and oil pastels.

Family Friday: Not Your Average Easter Egg

Still simply dipping your eggs? We’ve got just the workshop for you! In this class, parents and children will explore fun, new techniques to turn eggs into beautiful, tiny (and tasty) works of art. Chose from a variety of decorating stations, or try them all! You might even start a new family tradition! Six hard-boiled and six artificial eggs will be provided per student. If you desire additional eggs, feel free to bring your own extras!

Using materials such as pastels, clay, paint and paper that stimulate creative impulses and fuel artistry, children (and an accompanying adult guardian) will learn artistic processes that little hands can manage with help. There will be music, stories, and lots of fun for all!

Exporations in Wire Working: Jewelry & Beyond!

Students will learn a broad range of wire working and wrapping techniques while using a variety of tools to create beautiful, wearable pieces of art (earrings, pendants and rings) and small sculptures! Wire-wrapping is an inexpensive hobby, perfect for making unique gifts and keepsakes. Bring along your favorite shells, sea glass, or other found objects. You’ll be amazed at what you can create!

Family Friday: April Showers Bring May Flowers

Spring is coming and that means trees and flowers are blooming all over the world. In this class, we will create a mixed-media forest scene with each family member getting to create their own tree using a creative material that will give our trees their lovely spring blossoms!

Cyanotype Scarves: fun for the Whole Family

Enjoy a unique art experience with your keiki. This class is just in time for making a beautiful handmade Mother’s Day gift! In this workshop, each student will create a beautiful silk scarf using a 19th century photography process, 3-dimentional objects, and sunlight. Students will follow in the footsteps of Anna Atkins, the first female photographer! Join in the fun, get creative as a family, and make a meaningful gift for mom!
