In Beginning Jewelry, teens will learn to cut, drill, and pierce metal and will practice soldering techniques. Projects include pendants, bracelets, earrings and/or rings. In Wax Casting, students will expand jewelry design possibilities by learning to turn sculpted wax designs into wearable works of art. Teens will use traditional wax carving tools, discover the proper way to set up designs with sprues, and invest them in fine jeweler’s plaster. Students will see the most
intricate of details emerge from their designs as wax creations are replaced with molten metal. Brass metal will be included with lab fee and sterling silver will be available for purchase. No previous jewelry class is required.

In a collaborative effort, the chaperone will master basic wire working techniques; keiki will then choose eye-catching elements from glass & acrylic beads and follow simple design patterns.
