In a time of rapid AI-driven change—impacting connection and increasing anxiety—and following recent disasters across Maui, this fun adventure-based program helps youth deeply reconnect with themselves and others, adapt, and grow stronger. Led by 27-year master’s-level, adventure therapist Loren Lapow, MSW, the Maui Hero Project is a small-group adventure camp that builds confidence, resilience, and real-world skills that has served 1,000’s of Maui youth. Through guided adventures like hiking, kayaking, waterfalls, ocean jumps, snorkeling, and catch-and-cook spearfishing, archery and deer butchering, participants form strong peer bonds and connection to nature, to each other and to themselves. Integrated throughout are FEMA, junior first responder skills, including disaster preparedness, search and rescue, CPR/first aid, lifeguarding, fire-making and suppression, and wilderness survival. The structured, phone-free environment helps youth unplug, face meaningful challenges, and leave with practical skills and confidence to navigate an uncertain world.
