Movie Night featuring Uncle Bully’s Surf Skool
March 23 @ 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm
Join Whalers Village for an extra special movie night showcasing a Maui-made documentary!
Winner of the Best Documentary Audience Award at the Hawai’i International Film Festival, “Uncle Bully’s Surf Skool” is a testament to the power of one person to shape a more hopeful future for the next generation.
Maui surf instructor Bully Kotter grew up tough on the streets of Lahaina, and witnesses all-too-familiar struggles among his community as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic and shutdown of tourism — parents without work, keiki without school or structure, and ʻohana without a place to sleep at night. In the midst of unprecedented adversity, Uncle Bully stands up for his community of Lahaina, turning surf lessons into life lessons.
Following the film, the Maui-based cat and crew of “Uncle Bully’s Surf Skool” will join us for a meet-and-greet and Q&A.
Day: Friday, March 23
*Time: 6 to 7:30 p.m.
