All youth (age 2 – 18) are eligible for need-based scholarships for all regular youth classes, workshops and camps (typically for as a much as 50% of the tuition). 1. Wheel Throwing & Hand Building with artist Nancy Martel
Age 10+
Thursdays, 8 weeks: Jan 17 – Mar 7, 3 – 5 pm
Ceramics Studio
Prepare to be amazed at the bowls, cups, and vases created in this introductory ceramics class! Students will learn the basic elements of wheel throwing as well as more advanced techniques to add design and texture to work. Families are invited to attend the final session to view class work, pick up pieces, and meet your young artist’s new friends!
Fee: $135 ($169 nonmember) + Supply Fee: $32
2. Tiny Hands with Jesse Stuart 
Age 2 ½ – 5
Tuesdays, 6 weeks, Jan 29 – Mar 5 / 9 – 11 am
Children’s Studio
Children will learn creative processes that little hands can manage with help, using materials such as pastels, clay, paint and paper that stimulate creative impulses and fuel artistry. There will be music, stories, and lots of fun for all!
Fee: $105 ($132 nonmember)  + Supply Fee: $25
3. Wire Wrapping Jewelry Workshop for Teens with artist Julie Matheis
Age 13+
Sunday, Feb. 10 / 9 am – 2 pm
Bring in beads and objects that are inspiring to you and transform them into rings, and links for earrings, bracelets, or necklaces.  You will use silversmithing pliers and various wires as you learn basic wire wrapping techniques, how to make simple clasps, and tips for functional designs.
Brass and copper wire will be included in the supply fee & silver will be available for purchase in the studio with cash or checks.
Fee: $45 ($57 nonmember) + Supplies:  $15
4. Explore & Discover Field Trips at Hui No’eau
Scheduled on a first-come, first-served basis
Fee: Starting at $10 per student/ 10-student minimum
Teachers, students and members of other community-based groups are invited to participate in these interactive arts exposure programs that combine live artist demo/s, a guided gallery tour, hands-on workshop and supporting Q & A session with “real live artists!”. Explore & Discover Visits allow students to explore our rural grounds, enjoy some fresh air, participate in our latest program offerings, make connections between artworks and their own practice, and create a memorable arts experience. Sample Itinerary
9 am: Arrival at the Hui, welcome & overview with Youth Programs & Marketing Manager Kelly McHugh
9:15 – 9:45 am: Meet the Artists: Students explore the 2013 Hui No’eau Annual Juried Exhibition before hearing from one of its featured artists for a 15 – 20 minute Q & A session.
10 am – 12 pm: Groups engage in a hands-on visual arts workshop with a Hui teaching artist in one of our core artist studio spaces. Choose from mural arts, 3D Stickwork mini-sculptures, digital photography, or request something more customized to your needs.
12 pm: Brown bag lunch/ snack on the sculpture lawn followed by a self-guided walking tour of Kaluanui. Spend as much time as you please on the grounds.
