Celebrate National Poetry Month

“Poetry is not only dream and vision; it is the skeleton architecture of our lives. It lays the foundations for a future of change, a bridge across our fears of what has never been before.”- Audre Lorde

Poetry can motivate us to find beauty, hope, and power, no matter what we encounter. This April, Hawaii State Public Library System challenges you to read and log at least 600 minutes, and complete any two (2) of the activities listed in the activities badges. These activities will encourage you to read, watch, and listen to poets’ work. Find and log the activities completed by going to “Log” and selecting “Activity“. Open the badge to see the list and check off the activity you completed. Three lucky participants will win a $25 gift certificate via a lucky prize drawing, courtesy of the Friends of the Library of Hawai‘i. Entries are earned for every 60 minutes read, with a maximum of 10 entries (600 minutes). The more you read, the more chances you have to win!

  • Sign-up or log in at librarieshawaii.beanstack.org or use the Beanstack App on your mobile device. Once you have joined, simply use Beanstack to log reading minutes, and participate in activities and challenges.
