IRT Mission Statement:

To produce mission-ready forces through military training opportunities that provide key services for American communities.

IRT Vision Statement:

A secure and prosperous America supported by strong civil-military relations.

Public Affairs messaging guidance:

IRT projects are approved by the Department of Defense and chosen by units because the requested services align with military MISSION-ESSENTIAL training tasks… not because an area is UNDERSERVED, POOR or NEEDY; the care provided to the community is incidental to the training benefit.

IRT services ARE NOT FREE… IRT is funded by an existing Department of Defense training budget. Basic health care and wellness services are provided at NO COST to the community member.

Our eye care team will provide VISION SCREENINGS, not EYE EXAMS.

Maui Tropic Care 2018 is part of a Department of Defense initiative called Innovative Readiness Training. IRT training missions provide opportunities for military medical, engineering, and support personnel to receive training while making a difference in local communities throughout the United States.

“Maui Tropic Care is a very exciting mission for us,” said Lt. Col. James Jones of the Alabama Air National Guard’s 187th Medical Group and the officer in charge of Maui Tropic Care 2018. “It is an opportunity where members of the Air National Guard, Air Force, Army, Navy Reserve and Marine Corps Reserve can train together in a real world setting while at the same time helping the local communities. The training we receive will help to prepare us for future deployments.”
