544_gamesafootIn December, ProArts will present Ken Ludwig’s The Game’s Afoot at the Playhouse in Kihei. This rollicking comedy-mystery set in 1936 revolves around actor William Gillette, famous for his portrayal of Sherlock Holmes on the stage. He is spending the Christmas holiday with a few friends at his home in Connecticut when a murder intrudes on the festive occasion. Gillette has to use all his “Sherlock Holmes” skills to help solve the crime and protect his guests from further harm. It all adds up to a fun and exciting evening of theater, with comedy, surprises, and enough twists and turns to last into the New Year. The Cleveland Plain Dealer described the play as “An inspired whodunit … a snappy, clever drawing-room mystery”, while Broadway World Cleveland raved “The Game’s Afoot is murderously funny”.
