Queen Ka‘ahumanu Center Launches QKC Cares with July 14 Celebration

Summer Community Festival Features Family Activities, Entertainment and Giveaways

Queen Ka‘ahumanu Center (QKC) officially unveils its QKC Cares initiative with a summer festival on Saturday, July 14, that features a chance to win a $500 shopping spree and other giveaways, family activities including a “Touch a Truck” display and Keiki IDs, and Next Level Entertainment’s DJ Joe Cortez with Charly Espina Takahama of 99.9 KISS FM.

“Mahalo nui loa to Mayor Alan Arakawa for proclaiming this year’s date of July 14 as QKC Cares Day,” said QKC Marketing Director Toni Rojas. “We’re looking forward to celebrating our community with the QKC ‘ohana, and we’re showing our appreciation with free activities for the whole family as well as fantastic giveaways including a $500 shopping spree.”

The QKC Cares kickoff event is free to attend and will take place July 1 from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. with activities in Center Court. Families can bring their keiki to meet first responders, explore their vehicles and get photo identification cards for children 12 years and younger. Families also can explore community resources at booths by organizations including Maui Police Department, Maui Fire Department, Maui Humane Society, Na Halona, Maui United Way and more.

Attendees will receive a stamp card to visit the community resource booths and vote for the nonprofit organization of their choice. The nonprofit organization that wins the most votes will receive a check from the proceeds of event booth fees.
